Proper aftercare is essential to ensure your tattoo heals well and looks vibrant for years to come. Follow these detailed aftercare instructions to protect your new artwork and promote healthy healing.
Keep the bandage on for 2–4 hours after your session (or follow your artist’s specific instructions). This protects the fresh tattoo from bacteria, friction, and debris.
Wash your hands first. Slowly peel the bandage off to avoid irritating the skin. If it sticks, loosen it with lukewarm water instead of pulling.
Wash your tattoo with lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-free soap. Use clean hands only and gently remove any plasma or excess ointment. Do not scrub.

Pat the tattoo dry with a clean paper towel. Avoid rubbing, which can irritate the skin. Let it air dry for a minute before applying any product.
Rinse thoroughly so no soap residue is left behind. Residue can cause irritation or dryness while your tattoo is healing.

Apply a thin layer of tattoo aftercare ointment or fragrance-free lotion. Your tattoo should feel lightly hydrated, not greasy. Reapply as needed to prevent cracking.
Keep the Derm Shield applied for 3–5 days unless otherwise instructed by your artist. It is normal to see fluid buildup underneath the bandage. This is a mixture of plasma, ink, and blood and is part of the healing process. Do not puncture or drain the bandage.
To remove, gently peel it back slowly in the shower under warm running water. Pull it back over itself (not straight up) to minimize irritation.
If it feels tight or difficult to remove, allow warm water to run over it for a few minutes to loosen the adhesive.
Once removed:
• Wash the tattoo gently with lukewarm water and fragrance-free soap
• Pat dry with a clean paper towel
• Allow the tattoo to fully air dry
• Apply a thin layer of fragrance-free lotion
Your tattoo may feel slightly dry or tight after removal — this is normal.
